2022 Revised impact statement

Our Mission

A year-round fundraising initiative for Stamford Health's Bennett Cancer Center, The Hope in Motion Walk is a way to get involved, take a stand, and make a difference.

Through our signature event, The Walk and other events throughout the year, the community comes together to raise funds for cancer patients in our community - our family members, co-workers, friends, and neighbors.

For over 29 years, the Center has provided the highest standard of care in the area to our community’s cancer patients and their families in a warm and supportive environment. The funds raised through The Walk go directly to sustain programs and services at the Bennett Cancer Center at no cost to the patients:

  • Exercise sessions for patients post-treatment
  • Restorative sessions of Reiki and reflexology
  • Massage & yoga
  • Rides to and from treatment
  • Lunches for patients who are in chemotherapy
  • Grants for patients’ non-medical expenses

Without the help and dedication of our supporters and volunteers, The Walk would not be possible.

Stamford Health’s Carl & Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center (BCC) is a place for hope and healing where cancer patients can be treated close to home. The center provides the latest treatment options along with compassionate and supportive care. A multidisciplinary approach to each patient combines state-of-the-art technology and advanced clinical knowledge with care that treats each patient as an individual. Through the BCC’s integrative practices, each patient is given the opportunity to participate in services that treats them holistically. These services include Reiki, massage, yoga, Tai chi, exercise and education all of which are supported by funds raised through The Walk. Additionally, The Walk raises funds for patient transportation, which is so vital to our patients.
